Walking Beside Communities Since 1990 Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra was born from a simple truth: people, if given the right tools, knowledge, and confidence, can shape their own destiny. We began as a capacity-building centre for grassroots organizations and evolved into a catalyst for large-scale, systemic change. Over the last three decades, Sahbhagi Shikshan Kendra has remained unwavering in its commitment to those who have been historically excluded from the benefits of development. What began as a modest initiative to build capacity among grassroots organisations has evolved into a multifaceted movement that strengthens communities, empowers local governance, and influences public policy. Today, we stand at a pivotal moment. The challenges we face—climate change, migration, resource scarcity, and deepening inequities—are complex and interconnected. The answers cannot come from isolated projects; they must be forged in the space where communities and systems meet. That is where SSK thrives. Our future vision is clear: an equitable, resilient society where local leadership and inclusive governance are not exceptions, but norms. This is the path we have walked with communities for over 30 years—and the path we will continue to tread.
