This month ICT unit developed Sahbhagi Shikshan Trust(SST) website for more effective information dissemination. This website is solely designed for globalization and the facilities of trainings which SST provides. FIELD EXPERIMENTATION
Dalit and Girl Child Education Program
Kho – Kho Competition
The focus of Vidya Gyan Scholarship program is not only about academic progress and achievement of girls, but also about contributing to improve their personality and confidence. Objective of the competition was to develop the group feeling, Team Spirit and personality of the girls. In this progression, a Kho- Kho competition was organized at Aditya Narayan Public School Cholapur and Panchayat Bhavan Village Resource Centers (VRC) of Cholapur on 19th and 23rd November 2010 respectively. The competition was organized in two batches according to their standard, one batch for 9th class and two batches for 8th class. About 71 girls participated in the competition.
Guardian Meeting and Prize Distribution Ceremony
Two guardian meetings were held in Cholapur and Dhurahara this month. Guardian meeting was organized at Dhurauhara and Cholapur Justice panchayats respectively. The meeting was held with the objective:-
To share educational progress and to discuss the irregularities of students in the coaching classes as well as time schedule of coaching classes.
Prize distribution ceremony at Dhurahara was held.
Many competitions were organized this month, there was held combine prize distribution ceremony of different competitions like, Essay Competition, Slogan Competition, Card Making Competition, Rakhi Making Competition at Dhuarahara. The prize was distributed by the winner guardian’s themselves. It was observed that those girls who didn't got any awards, their parents encouraged to them to participate in the competitions.
Community Meeting
Community meeting was organized in Rampur, Srikhandpur and Cholapur. During the meeting, women aroused many issues like Infant Mortality, sanitation facility and livelihood. After the community consultation, a common consensus was made on the issues of livelihood to take an initiative of vocational training and exposure visit occupational opportunities for women. After the finalization of the issues, the community undergone to a lot of discussion and then finalized the one day orientation and exposure visit for exploring opportunities for women.
Meeting Adolescent Girls Group
Regular Meetings with Adolesent girls was held at Cholapur. In the 2 intervened Gram Panchayats, Kishori group meeting was held on 26th & 30th Nov 2010. The objective of the meeting was to provide a platform for adolescent girls for sharing their feelings about the physical and emotional changes of adolescent phase and vocational skill development. To aware the girls about best health practices and personal hygiene. There were 40 girls participants in the meeting. They also came to know about the importance of nutrient diets in the developing age and occupational vocational opportunities.
Exploring Vocational Opportunities for SHG Group
On 29th Nov, SSK organized vocational training for 2 groups of Self Help Group i.e. Jasmina And Garima on Food preservation methods of seasonal Fruits and vegetables at Cholapur

The objective of the orientation was:-

To provide a platform to SHGs to explore vocational opportunities for SHG group on food preservation.
To aware the women about opportunities of income with food preservation.
There were 30 women participants in the orientation. At the end of orientation, it was finalized, that one day exposure visit at Food Preservation Centre on 1st Dec 2010 will be organized to enhance knowledge on food preservations method and how SHG women can use these methods for income generation,
The findings of the assessment revealed that the problem of flood in Barabanki and Sitapur is grave and of more frequent nature than that of Gonda and Shravasti.

TRAININGS
Training on Process Documentation & Report writing
A 5 days Training program on process documentation and report writing had been organized in SSK premise at Lucknow during 12th -16th November. Twenty participants (M/F) from different organizations participated in the training. The key contents that were dealt during the training were perspective of documentation and process documentation , Institutional system for documentation, Context analysis(PEST & FFA), Purpose and elements of process documentation , Frame work and steps for process documentation, Methodologies and tools for data collection, Understanding documentation in project and organizational context, Presentation of quantitative and qualitative data, Progress and event reports- frame work, Case study- framework, Action planning for organizing documentation of participants.
PRE ELECTION VOTERS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN (PEVAC)
New Breakthrough in the Domain of PRI Strengthening: Leadership Establishment Day Celebration in Harahua Block
Leadership establishment day was celebrated on 25th Nov 2010 jointly for 3 gram Panchayats Vajidpur, Ganeshpur and Harahua. The objective behind the programme was to give honour to the newly elected Gram panchayat member and Pradhan and to also make them realize about their responsibilities for the people to whom they represent. This programme first time gave platform to the Gram Panchayat members to make them feel being a leader of their ward. About 35 elected representatives participated in the programme and among them 15 women elected representative actively participated. This programme also gave platform to initiate the process of dialogue between community and Elected Representatives.

Orientation Meeting of team Varanasi
As this is a new project which started at Cholapur Block of Varanasi from November, therefore an orientation meeting was organized at SSK, Varanasi. The orientation was done to explain the project and its objectives to the staff members for successful implementation of the project. The meeting was chaired by Ms.Shalini, she discussed major components and implementation strategy of the project.
Developing format for Rapid Assessment
Rapid assessment is the first step to start the project. A format was developed to identify the gram panchayats for rapid assessment. There are four major components in the project, hence 4 formats were developed to take general and personal information of each component.

Orientation of Field Level Staff
On 27th Nov 2010, an orientation was organized to community instructor, community organizer and volunteers at Cholapur Panchayat Bhavan. Objective of the orientation was:
To develop understanding of field level staff for this new project.
To ensure their roles and responsibilities in identifying gram panchayats by sharing the format data.
The orientation was facilitated by 1 of our staff members, she described the entire developed format to the participants. In this way, participants were assigned the task of filling the format data according to the gram panchayats. 15 gram panchayats are selected to collect the data.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT RESOURCE CENTRE
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) follow up project
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) follow up project started
After the successful completion of DIPECHO project in Bahraich district on 31st October, 2010, a DRR project started with effect from 1st November, 2010 as a follow up of the DIPECHO project. The follow up project has been specifically designed with the objective of increasing capacity of SSK to address disaster risk concerns into development processes and to sustain the ongoing efforts for risk reduction in the region. The total duration of the follow up project is four months. During the period the activities of the project will be focused on strengthening of community based organizations formed during the previous project; regular update of knowledge based internet platform and need assessment of the neighboring flood affected districts of Bahraich.
Need assessment in 4 flood affected districts of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.)
Need assessment was carried out in four flood affected districts of Uttar Pradesh - Shravasti, Gonda, Barabanki and Sitapur. The past experiences of SSK have enriched the organization with hands on experiences in the field of disaster management and with a view to expand its learnings to other flood affected districts of the region and thereby to strongly advocate for policy level changes at the government level, this need assessment was done. The purpose of the needs assessment was to identify the flood affected village panchayats of the concerned districts and their flooding patterns, its effects, main concerns/problems of the affected community and other stakeholders involved and to determine areas of improvement for minimizing the risks to prioritize the goal of the future intervention.
