Founder and Director of Sahbhagi Shikshan
Kendra (SSK), a state-level support organization for UP, Bihar
and Jharkhand. Mr.Ashok Singh is engaged in capacity building
of grassroots-level organisations of Uttar Pradesh and other
Hindi-speaking states Such as Uttarakhand, Bihar and Jharkhand.
Mr.Ashok Singh has done PG Diploma in Rural Management and
has also under gone a three week training on Organisational
development at Weatherhead school of Management, Case Western
University in Ohio,USA.
He has played an important role in initiating
and strengthening a very active network of civil society organisations
of Uttar Pradesh, which is known as Uttar Pradesh Voluntary
Action Network (UPVAN). He has worked in Gujarat for 10 years
prior to his coming to Uttar Pradesh in 1990. Mr. Singh is
a well-known trainer and has given/participated in a number
of trainings at national and international levels. He has
written many manuals and books on Participatory Philosophy
of Development, Organisational Development and Governance
of Civil Society Organisations, etc. He has been very active
in the field of strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions
and Urban Local Bodies in UP, Bihar and Jharkhand. Mr. Ashok
Singh has been very active in VANI (a national network of
CSOs) right from beginning and has taken active interest in
promoting and strengthening state level network in UP/Bihar/Jharkhand/Uttarakhand/Chhattisgarh
and Madhya Pradesh. He provided consultancy and advisory support
to a number of northern NGOs, bilateral and multi-lateral
funding agencies such as DFID (Nepal), SCF, UNFP, UNICEF,
etc.
He has written a number of books/articles
on the issues of participatory training, participatory research,
local self-governance, participatory planning, evaluation
and OD. He has served as a member of committees formed by
World Bank supported by Government. U.P. Forestry Project
Committee, U.P. Task Force Committee For Training Strategy,
National Task Force on Society Registration Act constituted
by VANI, India. He is a member of CIVICUS, ASPBAE, PRAXIS
CATALYST Group Member constituted by INTRAC, working committee
of VANI, India. He has participated in a number of national
and international workshops. He is Conducting a number of
short duration training courses such as TOT, PRA, OD, NGO
Management and Leadership Development for NGO Heads, Financial
Management Training, Advocacy, Facilitation skill Training,
Team Building etc and training courses for NGO functionaries
for last 20 years.
